Unique
We frequently use tools such as audio and video recordings, as well as pencast lessons using the Livescribe Pulse Pen to maximize a student’s productivity. Although there are many different styles of learning (visual, aural, logical, kinesthetic, experiential, etc), not all people learn effectively using all of them. Therefore, by figuring out what a particular student’s dominant learning style is, we can use the appropriate teaching techniques and tools that tap into the way in which that student learns best.
Versatility of Experience
Versatility is a unique part of our background which we consider a factor in our success as teachers. Not all good performers make good teachers and not all excellent teachers are good performers. In addition to having studied with master teachers ourselves, we have also studied the art of teaching from some of the best music instructors available. We feel that our rich background in performance and our 30 combined years of teaching experience make Advanced Arts Music Studios the clear choice when it comes to your child’s musical education. As active performers who have experience playing in major symphony orchestras, we will get your young musician prepared for their finest musical moments, whether it be a solo recital performance, a school or youth orchestra audition or even a college entrance audition! Please visit our Instructors pages for more information on our background and to listen to examples of our playing.
Opportunities
During the school season students have the opportunity to perform in various venues in the DFW metroplex area. All students are encouraged to participate in school, music-related activities including Solo and Ensemble as well as All-Region and All-State auditions. Students at Advanced Arts Music Studios consistently receive high rankings in these activities.
Once a year the students will have the opportunity to participate in a studio recital. In preparation for this they will have the pleasure of rehearsing with a professional pianist.

Skills are the Cornerstone
Excellent reading skills are stressed at Advanced Arts Music Studios. This, along with a strong understanding of rhythms, gives students the basis for being able to move forward in the repertoire at a swift pace. It will also enable them to feel most comfortable in their school orchestra program as well as any youth orchestra that they are in. Maximum Productivity - a focus on sound
Building a strong skill base is critical for their success as a musician. With a solid understanding of how sound is made on an instrument and the mechanics that go into making that sound, students quickly gain the confidence necessary to continually accept new challenges. At Advanced Arts Music Studios, tasks are broken down into small challenging, yet achievable parts. Our emphasis is on “how” to practice. This is often overlooked by teachers who demand results but do not have the understanding of how the human mind works and how it relates to building Procedural Memory. You may be more familiar with the term, “muscle memory”. For Procedural Memory to work in the students’ favor, it is essential to have them practice small tasks repetitively without mistake. This will ensure that they achieve maximum results. More about Procedural Memory.
